At the base of a rainwater downpipe there should be installed a gulley?
Does it discharge into a combined rainwater system?
- The gulley would be described as ‘trapped’ which prevents smells rising up from the main drain or sewer. This type of gulley is recommended when the rain water discharges into a surface water system.
- A trapped gulley should have water lying in the base – this is normal.
